Mahindra Racing: Electrifying in Formula E

Formula E is still in its infancy but Mahindra Racing is doing its best to become the dominant team in this electric racing Championship.

The 21st century has seen the advent of electric motor racing in its true form with the FIA Formula E Championship, the world’s first single-seater racing series on the streets using all-electric cars.

The concept was laid down by FIA President Jean Todt in 2012 and implemented by Formula E’s Chief Executive Officer, Alejandro Agag. It aims to demonstrate the sustainable mobility using motor racing tools. Among the 10 teams which started out for the inaugural season in 2014/15, is one of India’s largest conglomerates, the Mahindra Group.

Under its brand name Mahindra Racing, it competes against world’s largest manufacturers such as Renault, Abt Sportsline (Audi), Jaguar, Virgin Racing (Citroen), Venturi Automobiles and NextEV NIO. The likes of BMW and Mercedes have also intended to join in future.
