Knowledge In Action: Riccardo Paterni and the RPM Network Animates The Industry Day Of The KM 2025 International Conference

On June 25, 2025, the Pre-Conference Industry Day (dedicated to the Motorsport Industry) of the KM Conference 2025, organized by the International Institute for Applied Knowledge Management (IIAKM) and promoted by ISACA, was held at the University of Siena.
An event that saw the world of the motorsport industry relate to the world of research and application on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity in a context in which professors, researchers and protagonists of the sector from all over the world were present (in person and remotely); it was explaored how motorsport generates innovation, manages and transfers knowledge to other fields of application.

Riccardo Paterni leads the Industry Day
The day was presided over by Riccardo Paterni, Manager of RPM, as Chair of the Industry Day.
His speech, entitled "The Motorsport Industry as a Unique Powerhouse of Consistent Innovation and Knowledge Transfer", kicked off a day full of ideas and reflections on the strategic value of motorsport as an innovation ecosystem applicable to multiple sectors.

The protagonists of the RPM network
The RPM network had a strong and qualified presence, with contributions from several members who brought concrete experiences:

  • Alessandro Fabbri (Novac): supercapacitors and new energy frontiers.
  • Luca Buscherini (System Electronics): artificial intelligence and edge computing in motorsport.
  • Lorenzo Baldassarri (MindUP Enhancement Psychology®): human performance and applied knowledge.
  • Laura Tancredi (Automotive Women Association): inclusion and female leadership in the sector.
  • Samit Satish Naik (Synergy Pathways on the Merin case study): innovation and international technology transfer.

  • Luca Cecati (Stellantis) addressed the topic of software engineering between mass market and motorsport, highlighting the synergies between the two areas.

An event with a high collaborative value
The comparison between the industrial and academic worlds actively involved the public, with questions and ideas that confirm how knowledge management and innovation are today fundamental levers also in motorsport.
All the participants in the presentations received a parchment of thanks officially signed by the organizing institute and by the person presiding over the day.
To crown the day, the International Institute for Applied Knowledge Management awarded two recognitions:

  • Excellence in Leadership Award to RPM (Italian Motorsport Network), for the leadership demonstrated in organizing the event and the contribution to the diffusion of the culture of knowledge in the transfer of knowledge.
  • Excellence in Leadership Award to Riccardo Paterni, recognized as “Distinguished Colleague and Outstanding Leader”, for his leading role in the success of the Industry Day and in promoting the value of motorsport as an ecosystem of innovation.

The event was also important to generate interest in the Motorsport Industry from universities and organizations that understood the pragmatic planning and potential of the sector to generate innovation in various fields; from this contacts were born that will lead to further developments for the RPM network.
